PULAU LAYANG LAYANG ISLAND (MALAYSIA)
Layang
Layang Island, a coral atoll that is truly one of nature’s best creations.
Dubbed as “The Jewel of Borneo Banks”, Layang Layang reveals, to many
delights of the things dreams are made of… a truly magical marine kingdom
of bottomless blue decorated with a kaleidoscope of nature’s most lavish
seascape.
In the
middle of ancient South China Sea, 300km North West off the coast of
Sabah, Layang Layang lay like a beautiful emerald kissed by the sun and
teased playfully by the winds. Time and tide has linked 13 coral reefs to
form a languid lagoon with just a fraction of it breaking the calm surface
of the sea. This atoll is also the home to one of the most converted
diving sites in the world
On
this sliver of land lies a modest but complete resort - the three-star
Layang Layang Island Resort. It consists of 76 superior rooms as well as
10 deluxe rooms. Made of tropical hardwood, it shares the look of a
Longhouse, the traditional community homes of Borneo’s tribal people.
Rooms are
comfortable enough and all are air-conditioned. Dining is a pleasure as a
wide range of eastern and western cuisine are spread out for every meal at
the restaurant. To ensure variety, daily menus are amended to ensure
eating will be one other activity guests can look forward to regularly.
The
in-house PADI dive center is professionally-run by a team of experienced
and qualified instructors. This team of six persons have hundreds of dives
at Layang Layang between them.
Equipment
in the dive center includes 300 units of 80cu ft aluminum tanks, Bauer
KAP180 compressors, 20 sets of BCDs and regulators (Scuba Pro), lots of
fins, masks, booties, weights and belts. There are also ten Catamaran
boats that brings divers to the sites between 10-30 minutes.
All divers
must agree to the strict Environmental Conservation Programmed set-up by
the Dive Center and are required to sign a Reef Conservation Policy prior
to diving. PADI dive courses up to the Divemaster level are conducted.
The
swimming pool is a great spot to cool down, put your feet up with a book
or get some drinks.
At the Raba
Raba House, get yourself loosened up with a session of relaxing body
massage and foot reflexology. Experts are on hand to get you all
refreshed.
The resort
can also cater to seminars, meetings, conferences and incentive group
functions. There are adequate conference and banqueting facilities, with
the ability to host up to 200 persons.
