PADI OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE (SINGAPORE WATERS)
The open sea dives in Pulau Hantu, Singapore will resume from November 2007 - February 2008 as the diving season in Malaysia has ended.
Although most might find that the visibility ranges from 30cm to 6 meters, there are still a wide range of coral and marine life. As most might not know that green water contains lots of planktons and hence bring about a rich marine underwater world, Singapore waters is still an attraction. But of course when the dive season in Malaysia opens from March till November, enthusiast will want to go these popular destinations for its clear blue water.
As the monsoon season is coming to an end, we'll be conducting most of our dives in Pulau Hantu (Singapore Waters).
Course includes:
Class ratio: 4 participants to 1 instructional crew Course Fees, excluding equipment rental: Pulau Hantu (Singapore): $299
EQUIPMENT RENTAL THROUGHOUT COURSE DURATION: Rental of Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Wetsuit, BCD, Regulator set, and Weight Belt are available upon request at $100 per set throughout the entire course.
Course Requirement:
Minimum 10 years old Be able to float on water without any swimming aids for 10 minutes
Student to Instructor ratio => 4 : 1
The following steps are the procedures for the course registration:
STEP1:REGISTRATION Please register at least 2 week in advance prior to the commencement of lecture 1. 2 Color Passport size Photos (Good Quality) is required by lecture 1 for certification purposes. The Participant has to come down to Waikiki Dive Centre to fill up and sign the Student Profile, Liability Releases and Medical Statement. Generally Participant should be in good health status, otherwise a doctor's opinion should be seek when in doubt.
Upon Registration, participant will receive the dive manual and dive planner for self study prior to next lesson. It will approximately take 6 to 8 hrs or 1 week for the self study. Participants will have to complete all 5 knowledge reviews in the dive manual prior to the lecture, where you'll hand in to the PADI Instructor
STEP 2: THEORY The lecture sessions will be held over 2 evenings at 1900hrs at Waikiki Dive Centre, where the quiz and Exam will be administered at the same time.. Students are required to score at least 75% as a passing score. The PADI Instructor will then go through the specific mistakes. The passing criteria is MASTERY of diving knowledge.
STEP 3: POOL SESSION The Pool session is to develop the skills required for safe diving. It will be held in Outram Secondary School from 6.30pm to 10 pm on every Tuesday and Thursday.
STEP 4: OPEN SEA EVALUATION The Open Sea Dives will be held over 2 days, Saturday and Sunday at Pulau Hantu, Singapore. This is to ensure that dive skills taught in the pool are of mastery level by the participant. And not forgetting the assurance of safe diving practices are reinforced in the open sea.
